WHO WE ARE
Our Roots
Girls Night Out began as a small "pay it forward" project by my boss at the American Red Cross. Taunia Oechslin, a breast cancer fighter who was diagnosed when she was 36, and succumbed to the disease on April 9, 2009 at the age of 39. It was her goal that every female be educated about breast cancer, understand the value of early detection, and receive proper treatment.

Welcome to the 17th Annual Girls Night Out Event.
Girls Night Out Altoona is a vibrant, heartfelt annual event and nonprofit initiative dedicated to raising awareness and funds for breast cancer research, education, and patient support. It was founded in memory of Taunia Oechslin, a spirited young woman who passed away from breast cancer at age 39. Her legacy lives on through this powerful community gathering.
